what we're watching this holiday season
Oh, there's no place like sitting in front of your tv watching holiday movies during a holiday, especially during a pandemic. We polled the Rhone team and asked them what their can't-miss movies are during the holidays. Prepare to laugh, to cry, and to eat a lot of popcorn too. Without further ado, here's what you should be watching this holiday season.
1. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
Ain't no Christmas like a Griswold Family Christmas. It's got everything from holiday lights, massive trees, crazy relatives, and finding the true spirit of Christmas.
2. A Christmas Story
If you haven't seen the whole thing, it's guaranteed you've seen part of it on loop during the Christmas season on some channel at some point. It's full of nostalgia, air rifles, and that iconic leg lamp, to boot.
3. Miracle
No, it's not technically a Christmas movie, but we triple dog dare you to not feel warm and merry when we beat the Russians.
4. Home Alone
Take your pick of 1-3, but we'd recommend starting with the classic, ya filthy animal.
5. Elf
You've likely seen it before and you'll likely want to watch it again. Gear up for all the festivity and cheer and Will Ferrell at his finest.
6. Gremlins
Horror meets comedy meets Christmas. Didn't know that could be a thing? It can. If you watch this 1980s classic, just make sure all your snacks have been eaten before midnight.
7. It's A Wonderful Life
Few films define Christmas and this is one of them. It's funny, heartfelt, and will leave you feeling just a bit more grateful. Be sure to have the tissues nearby.
8. How the Grinch Stole Christmas
Whether you're a purist and like the classic cartoon or lean more towards the Jim Carrey style of story-telling, the Grinch in some form should be on your list.
9. Die Hard
Whether you consider this a Christmas movie or not, just know that Jake Peralta is probably watching this at the same time you are.
10. Jingle All The Way
The holiday side of Arnold. Need we say more? Also, a reminder to get moving on that Turbo Action Man (whatever it may be this year).
11. Deck the Halls
The movie version of that one house that coordinates their lights with Mannheim Steamroller each year, featuring Danny DeVito and Matthew Broderick.
