the junction between physical and mental health with new human
When I launched the New Human Project in 2019, I had one goal in mind— helping others improve their health and wellness. On top of that, I wanted to aid people in becoming the best version of themselves.
While there’s no shortage of enticing products and programs in the current fitness industry, a mere product was never something I strived for New Human to be. Instead, I sought out to build a community of people wanting to better themselves.
In 2019 we launched the New Human fitness app, a hybrid training platform, providing an intersection between physical and mental health.
I’ve met so many clients over the years who genuinely wanted to improve their overall health by starting their fitness journey. However, many of them didn’t know where or how to begin.
Let’s be honest—both are understandable apprehensions considering how intimidating gyms and fitness spaces can be. Imagine walking up to the bench press, eager to try it for the first time but the person next to you has eyes popping out of their head, crazy weight on the bar, and is screaming at the top of their lungs? It isn’t exactly inviting, and can definitely bring up insecurities for us.
Over the past three-years, New Human has been able to help over 5,000 people create a deeper connection within themselves physically and mentally, all while helping others.
When building content for the app, I wanted to make sure I tackled one of the biggest obstacles that pop up in the creation process–how to make it inviting and accessible to people of all fitness levels, ages, and backgrounds.
I created this app with the intention of meeting anyone's needs, and having a diverse program library that serves different purposes. As the programs began to roll out, they ranged from a “4 Week Arm Blaster”, which was intended to give someone a confidence boost, to our “21 Day Consistency Program”, which was created with the intention to encourage healthy habits and movement. This space was created for those who want to commit to bodyweight movements three weeks in a row, or regain their range of motion and flexibility without ever touching a weight. At New Human, every and any commitment to improving your health and wellness is one we believe should be celebrated!
Our second obstacle was how we wanted to approach ‘wellness’. To us, wellness includes mental and emotional health too. I truly believe this is overlooked.
We offer yoga, nutritional coaching, and licensed trainers available any time of the day to help you with questions or concerns. My hope is that you will feel supported mentally and emotionally as you go through your journey. A personal favorite of mine on the app is our community message feed. This is where our trainers stimulate and encourage a safe space for members to communicate with others! Whether it be success or struggle, it is so important to know that you’re not alone!
Ultimately, I want the app to be capable of reaching various corners of people’s lives, all over the world. Traveling on the road with no access to the gym? Stuck in your college dorm? Want to learn how to work your way up to running a 5k? You’ll find it on our app. We strive to help you incorporate wellness into your day-to-day life, regardless of your environment or ambitions. Above all, we hope that when you join New Human, you’ll realize you’re joining a community. This is the backbone of which our aspirations depend on.
