“We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand fibers connect us with our fellow men; and among those fibers, as sympathetic threads, our actions run as causes, and they come back to us as effects.”

Herman Melville

When you really take a moment to think about it, everything is connected. We as individuals are a “whole” by way of the mind-body connection and as a species. As communities, we are connected through common traits, values and daily energy exchanges. As a species, we are connected to the Earth that gives us life. What defines our entire existence is the ability to connect with one another.

At this point, you may have guessed it…our Pursuit this month: Connection. Community and connection have a stronghold here at Rhone, and we truly believe that we’re better (and can go further), together. This month, we’ll dig into the various ways that connection can be defined and what that looks like for different people. We’ll explore the ways in which our different relationships not only give us a sense of belonging, but a sense of identity. We’ll hear from experts and community members on the ways they work to strengthen their connections in life, and we may throw in a curveball or two. You’ll just have to read and find out.

To keep us all connected, we’re bringing you another challenge. Every day, reach out to a friend or family member, simply to let them know you’re thinking about them. As you start to do this, we’re almost certain you’ll start to feel more connected. And if you’re looking for additional, yet simple, challenges this month, we’ve got a few more up our sleeves:

  • Give someone a compliment

  • DM someone you’ve been admiring and tell them that

  • Schedule a Zoom happy hour with friends

  • Sign up for an event–whether that’s online or in-person, a networking event, or a workshop

  • Can you do any volunteer work this month to become more connected with your community?
