We're all guilty of snacking every now and again (or if we're being honest, maybe every day). We asked personal trainer and chef Zach Morgan to put together a few snacks for special occasions or really any occasion. These Coca Candied Almonds and quick, simple, store well, and hit that sweet tooth. 

 

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups almonds

  • 2 tbsp egg whites

  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract

  • 1/4 cup sugar

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder

  • 1 tbsp cinnamon

  • pinch of salt

 

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F.

  2. Whisk together dry ingredients (sugar, brown sugar, cocoa powder, cinnamon and salt).

  3. Mix together egg whites and vanilla. Add to dry ingredient mixture and mix until well combined.

  4. Add almonds and mix until they're well coated in cocoa mixture.

  5. Spread out onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Bake for 35-45 minutes, mixing up halfway through, until the coating has caramelized.

  6. Let cool for at least 20 minutes.
