Fall is in the air which means it's time to sneak outside of the city for a quick weekend getaway. Recently we spent some time in Red Hook, NY with a few members of our Rhone community. Though there are a million small towns within driving distance of the city to choose from, let us tell you why Red Hook should be your next stop.

WHERE TO STAY

If you're looking to head out of the city with some friends, and quite frankly even if you aren't, we've got the perfect place for you. Set on 33 acres of rolling hills and packed with all the amenities you'd want upstate (read fire pit), we guarantee you'll have a relaxing weekend.

WHERE TO EAT

The Hudson Valley might not come to your mind as a place filled with great food, but if that's the case, you're mistaken. It is filled with great places to eat, allowing you to fill your stomach with some of the best farm-to-table has to offer. Here are a few of our favorites.

Wm. Farmer & Sons

Family owned and operated and filled with the most delicious farm to table has to offer, Wm. Farmer & Sons is a weekend favorite. A comfortable local open Tuesday through Sunday and features a seasonal menu with a few tried and true favorites that are always available.

Savona’s Trattoria

This well-known restaurant is set in a former opera house and serves up some delicious Italian dishes using locally sourced produce.

The Corner

A fan of Employees Only here in NYC? Then you'll love the cocktail list at The Corner. Featuring Mediterranean cuisine and a seasonal menu, you can't go wrong here.

WHAT TO DO

The beauty of a weekend in Red Hook is that it really offers anything and everything in the activity department. Want to relax in the hot tub while the sun sets? Check. Want to get in a few morning hikes? Check. Want to participate in an ultimate paintball championship? Double-check. Here are a few of our favorites from the area but with 33 acres and space a-plenty, you can't go wrong.

Hudson Valley Distillers

Head out to their 14-acre farm for an afternoon spent touring and tasting. Hudson Valley Distillers makes all their spirits from the fruits and grains within walking distance of their distillery. It's a relaxing way to spend a Saturday with friends tasting their beer, cider, wine, and spirits.

Hiking

Hike up to the fire tower on the Mount Rutsen Loop for some breathtaking views of the Hudson Valley. It's a great hike for all levels and added bonus, it is dog-friendly too.

Paintballing

Craving something a little more extreme? Hop in the car and drive to Paintball Sports NY where you can suit up, team up, and run around with your buddies in the woods for an hour.
